From EarSplit Press release:

Chicago-based crossover practitioners, WHUT?, are pleased to unveil their timely new video for “C.A.P.S.” The track comes by way of the band’s No Hope - No Soul full-length, released last year via Demon Head Records.

Issues the band, “'C.A.P.S.' is gritty, aggressive, and comes out swinging. The opening line, ‘Chicago is a death sentence,’ is meant to be an instant attention grabber and to open your eyes in unprecedented times and the realities of our daily lives. The song is angry, and the title was spited from a local program, the ‘Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy.’ It’s meant to improve relations with city residents and is instead used as another way to harass and extort. Though the track resonates from where we are from and problems at hand, it also has a direct relationship to worldwide issues of abuse from those meant to serve and protect.”

Adds Decibel, "...this two-and-a-half-minute beatdown solidly comes down on the ACAB side. The video alternates between scenes of police violence and performance footage of the quintet... with some additional scenes of the crew walking the streets of Chicago."

Forged in 2002, WHUT? delivers Chicago-style crossover that aggressively blends hardcore punk and thrash metal. Featuring vocalist Jeremy Keen, guitarists Gregory Charles and Jerome Marshall, drummer Philly D, and bassist, Bob Mullaney, WHUT? is a powerhouse of the underground scene. The band’s latest full-length, No Hope - No Soul, was released in October of 2022 via Demon Head Records and followed their critically lauded Still Laughing EP, split 7” with Zor, and 2010-released debut, Laughing With The Sinners, which is planned for a 2024 reissue via Demon Head.

2023 was a busy year for the band and included an official merch collaboration with Pabst Blue Ribbon as well as multiple coast to coast tours in support of No Hope - No Soul. These dates not only marked WHUT?’s first ever West Coast shows but featured festival appearance, and support slots with Brujeria, Total Chaos, Escuela Grind, Brick By Brick, and Hoods.
